Sri Lankans who intend retaining their Sri Lankan citizenship before acquiring their citizenship in Australia can do so by submitting their applications under the Citizenship Act Chapter 349 to -

Sri Lankans who have already acquired their citizenship in Australia without making an application to retain their Sri Lankan citizenship will automatically lose their citizenship. However, there is provision to apply to resume the lost citizenship by making an application, giving valid reasons together with required documents. An application form could be obtained by clicking on the following link :

A fee of Rs.200,000/= is payable by the principal applicant and Rs.50,000/= each by the spouse and dependents under the age of 18 years.
Please note that all documents mentioned below should accompany the application.
1. Birth Certificate together with a photocopy.
2. Father's Birth Certificate or Affidavit together with a photocopy.
3. If a Citizen of Sri Lanka by registration, a certified copy of the relevant certificate.
4. Certified photocopies of the last two pages of the present Sri Lanka Passport.
5. Documentary proof of remittances in Sri Lanka for the last four years.
6. Documentary proof for assets such as lands, investments, shares, etc., in Sri Lanka (Minimum Rs.2.5 Million).
7. Intended investments in Sri Lanka substantiated with documentary evidence.
8. Please state how Sri Lanka will be benefited if you are granted Dual Citizenship.
9. Documentary proof of professional attainments.
10. Marriage Certificate together with a photocopy.
11. Certified copy of Citizenship Certificate if subsequently become a citizen of another country
